Born in Stirling, Allan studied sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art in the early 1970s. He then taught art at Wallace High School in Stirling until the early 2000s. He was a much loved and respected teacher, always inspiring his students through story telling and unconventional thought provoking methods. Throughout his teaching career, he kept painting and creating and left a lasting legacy in both physical art and memories from his teaching days.
