19thC Wasp Waist Mannequin - Edinburgh Brass Label
A 19th Century Wasp waisted mannequin, most probably French in origins, however retaining an original brass plaque for an Edinburgh shop fitter, Heccie & Aitchison, 47 Grove Street, Edinburgh.
This type of mannequin features a distinctly narrow waist, reflecting the fashion trends of the era, particularly the popularity of corsetry.
The mannequin itself is covered in its original fabric, which shows wear and patching consistent with its age and use.
The wooden base, top and arm rounded shows signs of original ebonising and the original black glazed ceramic top knop or handle is very good condition.
The brass hooped mechanism holds the body on the internal steel pole.
