3 Propositions / Mark Brusse, (1969)

3 Propositions / Mark Brusse, (1969)

A cool, conceptual exploration of form where the cube is deconstructed into a series of logical propositions.

Three geometric structures, derived from the form of a simple cube, are arranged like diagrams on a page, exploring notions of solidity, transparency, and transformation. The artist uses the clean, flat planes of color characteristic of screenprinting, setting bold blues and greens against the neutral ground of the paper, while dashed white lines suggest hidden geometries. This is a work of pure, late-modernist inquiry, a visual puzzle that treats art not as an expression of emotion but as a rigorous investigation into the possibilities of form itself.

Medium: Screenprint on paper

Inscription on Front: In pencil: 'epreuve d'artiste' (lower left), title '3 propositions / 4 / 1 piece' (center), and signed 'Mark Bruss 69' (lower right).

Condition: Framed under glass in a simple wood frame. The print has several areas of historic water staining, primarily to the upper and left margins of the paper.
