Woman with Red Yarn, Dutch School, (1976)
A quiet domestic act transformed into a study of tension, colour, and compressed space.
A figure knits at a table beneath a shaft of pale light, her angular face and hands reduced to bold, Cézannesque planes of ochre and shadow. Behind her, stacked books, a vase, and a second figure emerge from a flattened, fragmented interior rendered in dense impasto and stark tonal blocks. The visual language is abstracted yet anchored in domesticity: formal, still, and full of latent narrative.
