Architectural design and conceptual draft and drawing of a Leicester Permanent Building Society branch facade. Original 1960’s, possibly early 70’s pencil and watercolour on card, under protective tissue. This drawing may have been a draft design for the new look branches. The artwork is in immaculate condition and has not seen the light of day since initial conception. Interestingly the Leicester Permanent Building Society, founded in 1853 merged with the Leicester Temperance Building Society in 1974, so possibly this new design was shelved and never to be used. Later this building society merged to become Alliance and Leicester, with the Santander takeover more recently.
