Beautiful individual and unique hand stitched vintage cotton Kantha quilt with fine stitching. Now with an Arjrakh over print which has created a wonderful colour and texture.
This quilt has been resist over dyed with a natural dyes, so this fabric will fade over time. This quilt is double sided.
Because of the nature of this quilt, there are patches, sometimes holes and repairs within the fabric.
The Kutch region of Gujarat, India is home to the exquisite Ajrakh print and fabric. Drawing inspiration from nature, these designs are known for their intricate geometric patterns. The printing process is a complex and lengthy one, involving multiple stages like fabric preparation, block carving, printing, and washing. Natural dyes, like indigo and madder, are used to create the vibrant colors that make Ajrakh stand out. "Ajrakh," which means blue in Arabic and Persian, is thought to symbolise the universe due to its rich and diverse colour palette, including red which represents the earth.
