Thereza Miranda began in the art of engraving in the 1960s, under the guidance of Walter Marques, in the already historic Engraving Studio of the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro.
The artist was responsible for the introduction, in Brazil, of photogravure, a recording technique that has photography as a support. The photo, taken by the record company itself, is worked on several levels before being transferred to the metal matrix, where it is reworked. Initially, she portrayed images of Latin American cities and, later, concerned about the cultural heritage of her country, recorded on facades, doors and roofs details of Brazilian architecture.
At the same time, Thereza also began to develop painting works. They are screens in translucent blue and green tones that show forests and seas, landscapes "remembered, photographed reinvented, imagined" - Excerpt from the presentation of the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center exhibition in 1998, 1999.
The Engraving comes in its original light wood frame and has been rematted with a fresh mount and is ready to hang.
