Arthur Allan Wilson (1944–2024) was a Scottish artist and teacher who trained in Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art, later completing a BA in Arts & Humanities with the Open University. A much loved and quietly unconventional art teacher at Wallace High School, he inspired four decades of pupils - encouraging confidence, independent thinking and a belief in their own abilities. Rather than pursue a career in the art world, Wilson devoted his life to teaching, giving his time, talent and attention to generations of young people. Working privately throughout his life, he developed a distinctive visual language rooted in structure, form and disciplined mark making. His expansive studio collection, largely unseen during his lifetime, reflects a sculptor’s sensitivity to movement, space and process.
