Dirk Baksteen (1886–1971) was a leading Flemish printmaker celebrated for his atmospheric etchings of the Kempen countryside. A pupil of Jacob Smits, he became known for his expressive linework and poetic rural scenes. His work is represented in major collections including the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp, the Plantin‑Moretus Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts Ghent, cementing his reputation as one of Belgium’s most admired graphic artists.
