A wonderfully odd colour lithograph by Danish artist Herman Stilling, dated 1975.
Stilling’s trolls and strange human-like figures became one of the most recognisable parts of his work. This one has all of it: the huge dark head, fixed stare, striped body and slightly unsettling humour.
Born in Copenhagen in 1925, Stilling studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1945–51 and worked across painting, printmaking, illustration and writing.
